Mobily’s fiber-optic network expansion gathers pace

Mobily has completed the coverage of more than 100 residential quarters in more than 20 cities around the Kingdom with fiber optic network as part of its ambitious plan that aims to cover more than 1 million residential units with this advanced network.
This network is bolstered by faster and more powerful fixed broadband technology, according to a company press release.
Mobily said Jazan, Onaizah and Al-Hofuf are among prominent cities that were covered by fiber optic network during the last phase.
This coverage included a number of neighborhoods within these cities and provinces. Various cities and provinces have already been linked to this network, Mobily’s press release said.
It said that Mobily’s continued expansion of its fiber-optic network would cover most of the cities and provinces during the next period.
These projects are based on Mobily’s belief of the necessity to provide this high-tech service, which will provide high-speed Internet with great reliability.
Nasser Al-Nasser, chief operation officer, said: “Mobily is in a race with time for the deployment of fiber-optic network in all regions of the Kingdom.”
He said: “We work in accordance with a technical plan that took into account the speed of implementation and quality of provided services that confirm Mobily’s leadership of the telecom sector.”
He added: “Mobily is moving ahead with important steps that lead to the implementation  of its objectives that preserve the sustainable development to achieve the maximum benefit from fiber optic services.:
It is noteworthy that Mobily has adopted  the construction of a consistent strategy to expand its fiber optic network, in line with its ambitious plan  towardthe launch of a new era of the largest broadband network in the Gulf region.
This can be realized through completing the implementation phase of the infrastructure technical equipment, and then to the next phase of actual operation of the fiber optic network.
This will reinforce the leadership of turning the telecom sector toward broadband services supported by the fiber network to connect about one million site in 2014.
